Arfea – Receiving bus arrival times in real time
Challenge presented
Arfea, (Aziende Riunite Filovie ed Autolinee) is the public transport company in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti and Pavia, and manages urban transport in Acqui Terme, Castellazzo Bormida, Moncalvo and Tortona. It wanted to optimise its customer service by offering travellers real-time updates with accurate information on when buses would arrive at bus stops.
Actions undertaken
Arfea decided to exploit the potential of text messages, by using Skebby’s innovative SMS Receive and Reply service via gateway. Public transport users can send a text to a dedicated mobile number, inserting the route number and the name of the bus stop, and they receive a free text on their mobile phone in real time stating how many minutes there are left to wait for the bus.
